William Morris Flowerpot Tapestry Cushion 18"
Fine quality jacquard loom woven tapestry cushion with a beige velvet back inspired by William Morris's flowerpot motif for an embroidered picture. Has a concealed zip fastener and inner duck feather pad.
Tapestry fabric is woven in Flanders by master weavers and cover and duck feather inner pad are both Made in England. This large cushion measures: 46 cm x 46 cm (18" x 18").
Cushion weighs approximately 1.1 kg.
Flowerpot was designed by William Morris circa 1878-1880 as a small, square embroidery design for customers to buy as either a finished item or as a kit to complete at home for a cushion or fire screen. May Morris, William's daughter, embroidered the original flowerpot design. May was Head of Embroidery at Morris & Co. from 1885 to 1896.
