Flowerpot was designed by William Morris circa 1878-1880 as a small, square embroidery design for customers to buy as either a finished item or as a kit to complete at home for a cushion or firescreen. May Morris, William's daughter, embroidered the original flowerpot design. May was Head of Embroidery at Morris & Co. from 1885 to 1896.
