Faithful reproduction of a vintage 1930s WPA poster for the United States Travel Bureau promoting tourism and to 'See America'. The poster depicts Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico and was created in 1939 by Alexander Dux as part of the Works Project Administration (WPA) Federal Art Project.

This 17" x 23" poster is printed on 80-pound heavy stock paper using a non-reflective matte finish for a look and feel of the original silk-screened posters.

PLEASE NOTE: on sale due to very slight damage on back of poster in the four corners (as seen in photo) where display tape has been removed. Font of poster not affected. Hence reduced sale price.

In 1935 President Franklin Delano Roosevelt established the Works Progress Administration (WPA) as part of his New Deal program to put millions of unemployed Americans back to work. The New Deal administrators believed art could be a part of the daily lives of all Americans not just the elite. The WPA funded various art projects including between 1936 and 1943 the creation of a series of silkscreen posters to promote America's National Parks which have since become collector's items.
