Fine quality cotton jacquard woven tapestry cushion with beige velvet back featuring the lion from the famous Forest tapestry by William Morris. Lion is facing left on this cushion. Has a concealed zip fastener and removable feather pad.
Fabric is woven in Flanders by master weavers and cushion is Made in England.
Measures 38 cm x 48 cm (15" x 19").
The majestic lion features on The Forest Tapestry designed by William Morris in 1887 at Merton Abbey and woven by Morris & Co's three most senior weavers. The Forest depicts scrolling acanthus leaves, a lion, peacock hare and fox amongst wildflowers and was one of Morris & Co's finest tapestries.
