Architect, designer, and watercolour artist Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868 - 1928) is celebrated internationally for designing the Glasgow School of Art; The Hill House villa in Helensburgh, Scotland; and the remarkable tearoom interiors he designed for Miss Catherine Cranston in Glasgow’s city centre. These projects represent some of the finest examples of projects for which the architect designed not only the structure but also the decorative scheme, furniture, and furnishings, unifying them all into beautiful and harmonious ensembles. During the latter part of his life, Mackintosh worked at a more intimate scale. He focused on textile design and produced a series of watercolour paintings of flowers and landscapes.
